Awards and Criteria for Selection
The California State University, Dominguez Hills Staff Awards of Excellence are intended to recognize exemplary service by staff members and are presented annually to employees in each of these three categories: Exemplary Achievement, Outstanding Education Support, and Excellence in Customer Service.
Recipients of Staff Awards of Excellence will have made a significant impact on the university through outstanding dedication, competence, exceptional performance, excellent service to students, and ingenuity. Staff can be nominated in multiple categories, but may only receive an award in one of the three categories. An outstanding employee will be selected for each of the following awards:
- Exemplary Achievement Award
Building the campus community by demonstrating exceptional ability to foster collaboration, communication and cooperation among colleagues and members of the campus community.
Example: Starting a shared interest group on campus that assists in fulfilling the needs of a previously underserved campus micro-community.
- Outstanding Education Support Award
Create and support an environment of teaching and learning.
Example: Taking extra steps to ensure classrooms and labs are clean, orderly and conducive to a comfortable learning environment.
- Excellence in Customer Service Award
Improving customer service for students, employees and guests and/or demonstrating a significant increase in the efficiency of an operation or unit.
Example: Reviewing a department process and implementing a change that would make the process easier, more effective and ultimately more efficient for the parties involved.
Awards of Excellence recipients each receive:
- $1,000 cash award
- An Award of Excellence plaque
- A reception for the winning staff member’s department
- Two tickets for each winner to attend a soccer game in the President’s suite at the StubHub Center
