Approximately 1600 employees work on campus. CSUDH has a very competitive compensation package including salary, health benefits and retirement. There are 10 collective bargaining units and five labor contracts. Salaries are usually negotiated annually. During some years, merit pay adjustments are possible.

The University provides health, dental and vision insurance, disability coverage, life insurance, etc. A generous retirement plan is available to all qualifying employees and employees may invest in tax-sheltered plans.

A wide variety of leaves of absence are available including vacation, sick leave, maternity/adoption leave, sabbaticals, funeral leave, military leave, etc.

Educational opportunities are available including reduction of fees at CSU campuses and training opportunities through the University's Training Program.

CSUDH opened its door in 1965. Its 346-acre campus is located in Carson, California and is situated close to many Southern California’s cultural centers, attractions, business and industrial centers. It is a contemporary four-year public university, one of the 23 California State University campuses.
