Credit by Exam in Graduate Courses
The purpose of graduate study is to acquire new knowledge and skills. Since credit by examination is predicated upon the demonstration of knowledge and skills, no student may receive credit by examination in a course used to satisfy the requirements of a master's degree.
Prerequisite courses and other requirements outside of the formal program of study for the degree may be challenged, but a student wishing to exercise this option must petition the graduate coordinator to replace the challenged course with another course to fulfill the program's requirements.
Note: PM 78-17, "Credit by Exam for Undergraduate and Graduate Students," is superseded in part by this policy in that it no longer applies to graduate students.
