Reporting Lines and Appeal Process for UCC and GE

The University Curriculum Committee (UCC) and the General Education Committee oversee the curricular process, a province of the faculty that resides with the Academic Senate. Therefore, each committee shall submit an annual, detailed, and substantative report to the Academic Senate by the first Wednesday in May.

While decisions of these committees and their subcommittees normally are final, under extraordinary circumstances these decisions may be adjudicated by the Educational Policy Committee (EPC). Examples of “extraordinary circumstances” include, but are not limited to, decisions made contrary to normal procedures; decisions that are arbitrary, unreasonable, prejudicial, or capricious; and decisions involving conflict of interest. The burden of proof lies with the appellant. Procedural errors will be remanded back to the committee for reconsideration.
