Michael Whittiker, Jr. serves as the Director of Community Services/Recreation/Park Maintenance for the City of Carson, bringing thirty-two years of experience to the role. Over the course of his career, he has gained extensive knowledge in Community and Social Services and has partnered with various organizations to support the Carson community.

As an alumnus of California State University of Dominguez Hills, Mr. Whittiker has actively worked to strengthen ties between the City of Carson and CSUDH, collaborating on programs that bridge community and academic efforts. His commitment to public service is evident through his leadership in multiple roles within the city, most notably as the Manager of the Human Services Division. In that capacity, he oversaw key sections such as Therapeutic Recreation, Special Interest programs, the Stroke Center, Senior Social Services, Early Childhood Education, Senior Assisted Living, Senior Recreation, Youth Services, Cultural Arts, and manager of the 2020 COVID-19 task force.

Mr. Whittiker is deeply dedicated to meeting the needs of the community, with a focus on enhancing the quality of life for all residents. His passion for community service continues to fuel his work, and he remains grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Carson.
