Dr. Cuauhtémoc Avila is the current Superintendent of the Rialto Unified School District. He has been a leader in public education for the past 22 years and began his educational journey in 1994 as a middle school teacher in the Compton Unified School District. Later, he joined the administrative team as a Curriculum Specialist, and gradually served as a High School Assistant Principal, Elementary Principal, Middle School Principal, and High School Principal.

In 2007, Avila joined the Glendale Unified School District and served as Principal of Alternative Education, and Director of Educational Services. Between 2012 through 2015, he served as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Programs for the Los Angeles County Office of Education.
