Danny Grissett started playing piano at the age of 5, and studying classically at 6. A love for jazz developed as his classical training continued in high school and while a student at CSUDH. He went on to graduate school at Cal Arts, earning his MFA in jazz performance. He completed his studies at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute, studying with jazz masters such as Barry Harris, Herbie Hancock, Terence Blanchard, Kenny Barron, Bobby Watson, Jimmy Heath, and Carl Allen.
Grissett is a side man of choice for many esteemed artists, such as Vincent Herring and Vanessa Rubin. He has been a member of Tom Harrell’s Quartet for the last 14 years. His solo career includes six recordings. Grissett is also adjunct faculty at New School University in NYC and guest lecturer at Eastman School of Music.
