Paula Ranson is a chief nurse executive in the California Correctional Health Care System. She is also a public health nurse and is nationally certified as a correctional health care specialist. She acts as a nurse expert witness for the State of California and as a proctor for the National Correctional Health Care’s certification exam.

Ranson’s innovative approach to the management of diabetic inmates is recognized both nationally and internationally. She was honored to receive both the Cynthia G. Johnson California State University School of Nursing Community Service Award and the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Research Award.
