Congresswoman Karen Bass is currently serving her fourth term representing the 37th Congressional District. Bass serves on the House Judiciary Committee; the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, where she is ranking member of the Subcommittee on Africa; and on the prestigious Steering and Policy Committee, which sets the policy direction of the Democratic Caucus, as organization, study, and review chair. Bass also plays a leadership role in the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) as second vice chair for the 115th Congress.
Prior to serving in Congress, Representative Bass made history as the first African American woman to serve as speaker of the California Assembly.
