I Work with Satellites

Jon Binkley has been with the Aerospace Corporation for 30 years, and currently serves as systems director for the company's Spacelift Telemetry Acquisition Reporting Systems (STARS) Department. STARS is responsible for providing real-time launch vehicle telemetry processing, display, and analysis capabilities, enabling Aerospace to provide GO/NOGO launch assessment.

After graduating from CSUDH with a B.S. in mathematics, Binkley attained his master's degree in mathematics, with a statistics concentration, from UCLA. At Aerospace, Binkley started in the Reliability and Statistics Department, where he assessed the reliability and risk of launch vehicle and satellite systems. He was later promoted to Systems Director for the Space System Engineering Database (SSED) Department. The SSED is an enterprise database containing U.S. and foreign space launches, anomalies, lessons learned, and other space system information. Jon later took a position for the Delta IV Program Office, where he was responsible for tracking to closure all countdown and launch observations and anomalies.
