Chief Keith Kauffman, a two-time South Bay Medal of Valor winner, was appointed police chief in Redondo Beach of the 92-officer force. He has been a law enforcement officer for over twenty years and has worked patrol, gangs, narcotics, SWAT (from operator to team commander), traffic, and training.

Kauffman is passionate about community-oriented policing programs, and is a co-creator of Hawthorne’s Coffee with a Cop program that has been adopted by more than 1,000 departments across the country. He also started a Tactical Medicine program that grew to a team including doctors, paramedics, and numerous officers who have set the standard now being used by the State.
