The mission of Black Faculty & Staff Association (BFSA) is to build a nurturing community among Black faculty, staff, and students fostering an environment of respect, support, and collaboration at CSUDH. We create a safe space for advocacy and voice, partner with the University to promote an ant-racist culture, provide resources and opportunities for social and professional growth. BFSA educates and brings awareness to Black faculty and staff about resources and trainings needed to advance and thrive in higher education. We encourage student academic success, retention, and persistence by providing scholarships.
Vision Statement
We envision a joyous and robust community of Black faculty, staff, and students advocating, uplifting, inspiring, and enriching each other’s lives and invigorating the CSUDH community.
Core Beliefs:
Anti-racist Culture: We believe that being anti-racist is the only way to disrupt and dismantle the current dysfunctional system and we dedicate ourselves to promoting an anti-racist culture at CSUDH whereby all Black faculty, staff, and students find brave, equitable, and inclusive spaces.
Black Culture: We believe that Black people are people of genius and through the promotion of Black culture and Black cultural events at CSUDH, we honor the identities, heritage, work, and legacy of the Black community.
Collaborative Culture: We believe that through collaboration with the CSUDH community we can advocate for the hiring and retention of Black faculty and staff as well as encourages pathways that seek out Black students as incoming scholars here at CSUDH.
Supportive Culture: We believe that by promoting the Social and Emotional health of Black faculty, staff, and students at CSUDH will ensure a community that is joyous, uplifted, and invigorated.
