Our Purpose:

The CSUDH Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) is a multi-disciplinary group of campus officials that work in a proactive and collaborative approach to respond to non-emergency concerns. The BIT team works to intervene early and develop appropriate courses of action for referred students. Our goal is to support students who may be in distress and/or whose behavior is of concern to others before they arise to a crisis.

The functions of the BIT Team include:

  • Share information and resources among appropriate offices to enhance effectiveness in dealing with students of concern and ensure that university resources are utilized appropriately
  • Strive to understand a troubled student’s situation by gathering information from other available sources
  • Provide an opportunity for team members to identify trends and/or patterns of concerning behaviors that may impact the campus community
  • As appropriate, recommend interventions that connect the student to beneficial resources and/or may de-escalate potential at-risk situations

Members of the BIT Team consist of representatives from the following departments:

The BIT Team may also consult with representatives from other departments to address or resolve certain referrals. These offices include, but are not limited to: Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, International Students and Scholars, Athletics, and the Veterans Resource Center.
