Supporting a Student
Due to the role you play in the students’ academic and professional careers, they may share experiences of interpersonal abuse (sexual abuse/assault, intimate partner abuse, stalking, and sexual harassment) with you.
Here are some tips to provide support:
- Thank them for trusting you.
- If they are in immediate danger, call 911.
- Inform the student about your obligation to notify the Title IX office.
- Refer them to CAPE or other appropriate resources.
