Biography

Chacko Kannothra is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Management and Marketing at California State University Dominguez Hills. He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Boston. He also received an MBA in International Business from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Delhi and a Bachelor of Technology in Electronics & Communication Engineering from the Univ. of Kerala. He was selected as a finalist (top three) at the SIM Division Doctoral Dissertation Award of the Academy of Management (August 2019, Boston). Before joining CSUDH, he worked at the University of Birmingham, UK.

He is interested in organizations and their strategies, especially those involved in bringing about social change; some of his current research themes include: 1. Social entrepreneurship and hybrid business models that combine commercial and social missions- how these organizations manage the inherent social-business tensions. 2. Business models in emerging economies- how different (and innovative) are they from the existing business models. 3. Outsourcing, with a focus on emerging outsourcing destinations and inclusive employment initiatives. He has done extensive field work among Impact Sourcing Service providers in different parts of the world.

Prior to joining academia, he worked in product and program management roles both in the private and public sectors. Previous employers include Accenture and Ministry of Science and Technology (India).
