Permission numbers- Students who need a permission number to add courses (August – May) will email their designated CDV advisor before classes begin the up-coming semester. After the semester begins, you must reach out to the instructor of record to request (not demand) permission to add the course. In summer ONLY, May 25- Aug 1 – All Foundation (320, 325, 330, 360) permission numbers are obtained by emailing cdevelopment@csudh.edu as these numbers are held for new admits. During Registration Period- Specialized permission numbers are obtained by emailing your designated CDV advisor. Your request must be verified and approved eligible to add before receiving the permission number. First Day of Classes- ALL permission is obtained from the instructor of record. Other Departments (PSY, SOC, etc.)- you will need to reach out to the specific department for permission numbers. You may be able to find their information in the department’s website. |
WAITLIST
Waitlist- How does the waitlist work? The system automatically enrolls the next person on the waitlist when a student drops a course. However, once the semester begins, you will need to contact the professor to request a Late Registration Permission Number. ADD/DROP/WITHDRAWAL
Add/Drop- students who need to drop must follow the add/Drop policy provided by the University. See below Filing Dates and Instructions. | ||

If a student needs to drop all courses enrolled in for a term, he or she may do so online at My.CSUDH before the term begins and during the first three weeks of the semester. They may also submit a Change of Program Form [PDF] which must include all of the courses they intend to drop. No signature required. The academic record shows withdrawal but does not indicate specific course. | Drops during this period must be for serious and compelling reasons. The following is required to drop: · Petition for Exception Form · Change of Program Form · Statement on why you are dropping · Supporting Documentation · Signature of instructor and Department Chairperson is required. A grade of "W" will be assigned for all courses. No refund of the State University Fees allowed. Prorated tuition refund in accordance with refund table in current Schedule of Classes. | Drops during this period must be for serious accident or illness. · Petition for Exception Form · Change of Program Form · Statement on why you are dropping · Supporting Documentation · Signature of instructor and Department Chairperson is required. A grade of "W" will be assigned for all courses. No refund of fees or tuition is allowed. Qualified withdrawals during this period will not count against 18-unit limit. |
Once you have gathered the instructor signature/s, you will need to submit the Petition for Exception, Change of Program form, Statement, and supporting documents to the Child Development Department at cdevelopment@csudh.edu . Make sure all documents are included. If you are dropping a non-CDV course, you will need to gather the instructor/s, Chair/s, and Dean/s signature for the course(s) and send to the respective departments of the course(s) for processing. The Child Development Department cannot complete petitions that include courses outside of the major. If at least ONE of the courses is a CDV course, then follow the directions above to obtain signatures and then email to cdevelopment@csudh.edu for processing. |
