HEA Permission numbers

Permission numbers-

When sending out the email make sure to include the following:

    1. First/Last Name
    2. Student ID Number

Things to keep in mind regarding permission numbers:

  1. The course(s) the student is requesting a permission number for, and the section number for the class (example HEA 312-02). Many Health Sciences courses have more than one section being offered each semester, so the student will need to specify which section they would like to register for.

  2. If requesting a course(s) that has a prerequisite other than HEA 201, students will need to email proof that the prerequisite course(s) has been successfully completed before a permission number can be issued. Examples of proof include: advisement sheet with the prerequisite courses checked off as completed and signed by advisor, Mark Kerr, unofficial transcripts.

  3. Prerequisites will be strictly enforced by Professors. The only exceptions are below.
    • HEA 316 may be taken without taking HEA 313 as a prerequisite
    • HEA 461 may be taken concurrently with HEA 479
    • HEA 478 may be taken concurrently with HEA 472
    • (Student will need to register for HEA 472 before requesting a permission number for HEA 478)

  4. Please do not email us until you have attempted to register and have received an error message.

  5. Students requesting permission numbers for the internship courses HEA 496/497 will be issued a permission number during your one-on-one with Professor Castillo. Students will need to first attend an orientation before being eligible for a one-on-one virtual meeting. One-on-one appointment times will be announced via email. If you have already attended your one on one appointment with Professor Castillo and did not receive a permission number, you may email her your request kcastillo@csudh.edu

  6. HEA 490: Healthcare Management Students, please register for sections 01 or 04, Community Health Students, please register for section 02 or 03. There will be no exceptions made since these courses will be taught specifically for your concentration.

Please only email The School of Public Health and Health Science or Mark once with your request and allow 48 hours for a return email (not including weekends). This will allow for a faster response. Also, make sure to read these instructions carefully and provide all the required information and documentation.

For Non-HEA courses you will need to reach out to the specific department for permission numbers. You may be able to find their information in the department’s website.
