Graduation Process for Returning Students

If you did not apply to graduate before stopping your enrollment at CSUDH:

Academic Probation or Disqualification. What do I do?

STEP 1: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine the best options for you to increase your CSUDH GPA to 2.0. This may include one or both of the following options:

Repeating classes you failed. This also includes determining what grades you must earn in the courses you repeat. If you've already repeated classes, there are limits to how many courses you can repeat. The Graduation Specialist will help determine if you've reached the limit.

You are retroactively withdrawing from an entire semester. Students who wish to withdraw from a whole semester must submit an Academic Petition or Appeal. Students are encouraged to submit a petition with support from the Graduation Specialist. If you've already withdrawn from classes, there are limits to how many courses you can withdraw from. The Graduation Specialist will help determine if you've reached the limit.

STEP 2: Follow the Academic Plan you created with the Graduation Specialist.

STEP 3: If you have classes you can take, you can do so while you wait to be readmitted into CSUDH. Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine precisely which courses to take.

STEP 4: Reapply to CSUDH.

STEP 5: Begin meeting with your major advisor to create an academic plan of which classes to take. It is a student’s responsibility to know their degree requirements.

STEP 6: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to complete the graduation process.

I left CSUDH with a GPA above 2.0, fewer than 84 units of coursework completed, and at least ten classes to complete. What do I do?

STEP 1: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine if you must reapply to the University and the application deadlines to reapply.

STEP 2: If you have classes you can take, you can do so while you wait to be readmitted into CSUDH. Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine precisely which courses to take.

STEP 3: Reapply to CSUDH.

STEP 4: Begin meeting with your major advisor to create an academic plan of which classes to take. It is a student’s responsibility to know their degree requirements.

STEP 5: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to complete the graduation process.

I left CSUDH with a GPA above 2.0, more than 96 units of coursework completed, and fewer than ten classes to complete. What do I do?

STEP 1: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine if you can graduate without needing to reapply to the University. Your eligibility will decide if it benefits you to reapply to the University or complete the few missing requirements you have left.

STEP 2: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine which requirements are missing and create an academic plan.

STEP 3: Follow the Academic Plan you created with the Graduation Specialist.

STEP 4: Upon completing the degree requirements, meet with the Graduation Specialist to confirm your graduation eligibility and review the graduation process.

STEP 5: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to complete the graduation process.

STEP 1: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine if you can graduate without needing to reapply to the University. Your eligibility will decide whether it benefits you to reapply to the University or complete the few missing requirements you have left.

STEP 2: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to determine precisely which requirements are missing and create an academic plan.

STEP 3: Follow the Academic Plan you created with the Graduation Specialist.

STEP 4: Upon completing the degree requirements, meet with the Graduation Specialist to confirm your graduation eligibility and review the graduation process.

STEP 5: Meet with the Graduation Specialist to complete the graduation process.
