Research Overview

My research program focuses on the sociocultural nature of children and youths’ cognitive development, especially their prosocial development via attentiveness and initiative in informal and formal learning situations. I investigate these questions by examining the cultural values (particularly in immigrant families) that foster children’s prosocial development, especially being alert to others’ needs and attentive to opportunities to contribute or help.
