Admission to the Program
Please see the CSUDH University Catalog for details regarding admission requirements.
Performance in Child Development Courses
- All Child Development courses applied to the B.S. in Child Development must be passed with a grade of "C" or better. Any courses that earn a grade of “C-” or lower will need to be repeated.
- Coursework is organized in 3 levels – Introductory, Foundational, and Specialized. All courses in a level are prerequisites for the courses in the subsequent level.
Lower division GE requirements should be completed prior to enrolling in upper division courses for the major.
- Courses used to satisfy the major (both upper and lower divisions), or which are prerequisite to them, must be taken for a letter grade; they may not be taken for Credit/ No Credit (CR/NC).
- To preserve the integrity of the Child Development curriculum, the program does NOT permit any major required course repetition beyond three attempts. That means any student who failed a CDV required course three times will need to choose a different major.
All fieldwork sites must have University approval/contract.
Child Development majors will be reinstated only once. If a reinstated student is put on academic notice or disqualification for a second time, the student will no longer be able to major in Child Development.
