Degrees and Certifications Offered

The Clinical Science Program at CSUDH offers a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Clinical Science as well as Postbaccalaureate (PB) Certification programs in two clinical options: Medical Technology (MT) and Cytotechnology (CT). It is important to note that MT is equivalent to Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) and Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS). These programs are designed to provide students with the comprehensive education and practical experience necessary to excel in their respective fields.

Undergraduate Program: Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Science with options in Medical Technology or Cytotechnology

Our program is designed to provide:

  • Baccalaureate level didactic and pre-clinical coursework: Prepare for internships in the clinical science professions.
  • Academic and clinical route to professional certification and California state licensure.

Program Highlights

  • Strong Clinical Experience: Combined with a solid science base within the Liberal Arts and Science focus of the University.
  • Comprehensive Preparation: Includes discipline-specific theory, research methods, management, regulatory issues, and ethics of patient care.

Post-Baccalaureate (PB) Certificate Programs

For those with a related science undergraduate degree:

  • Medical Technology or Cytotechnology: Provides an academic and clinical route to professional certification and California state licensure.
  • Coursework Requirements: Must be met before starting the clinical internship (see Supplemental Admission Criteria).
