Professional Background

Sonja Ulrich is an applied anthropologist with research in medical anthropology among rural residents in Chipas, Mexico which yielded a published thesis (Healthcare Seeking Behavior in Rural Soconusco of Chipas, Mexico). As a cult survivor, her experience led to teaching psychological anthropology at CSUDH and her publishing a reader, Introduction to Psychological Anthropology.

As an alumna of CSUDH, she is passionate about teaching for the Anthropology and Behavior Science department at CSUDH with a focus on mixed methods research. In addition, she has led study abroad classes in Bulgaria teaching folklore and cultural anthropology through CSUDH's study abroad program.
