Research Interests

My research examines the interplay between individual behavior and political institutions within the context of democratization. I explore how education shapes democratic values and civic participation, emphasizing its role in fostering democratic consolidation across diverse economic and political contexts. Additionally, my work focuses on South Korea's democratic evolution, analyzing the organizational and ideological transformations of political parties and the effects of income inequality on voter behavior. By combining cross-national studies with in-depth analyses of South Korea, I aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of how individual-level factors interact with institutional changes to shape democratic development in newer democracies.
