Please Note: Official transcripts must be sent to the Admissions Office prior to the deadline.

Helpful tips to ensure your transcripts are received:

  • Submit your Cal State Apply application prior to sending official transcripts from your former institutions.
  • Use the same name on your Cal State Apply application as on your transcripts (if your name has changed, indicate this in your transcript order).

Application Procedures:

1. Apply

Complete the Graduate Online Application at Cal State Apply. The University application requires a $70 non-refundable application fee. Visit the Graduate Studies Application Guide for more information. You will apply to Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL) Certificate.

2. Official Transcripts

After you have completed the application in Cal State Apply, but before the application deadline, submit one official electronic set of transcripts for all undergraduate and any post-graduate work. Electronic official transcripts from domestic institutions are encouraged and preferred to be sent to admissions@csudh.edu. Transcripts are considered official only when sent directly from the issuing institution to the CSUDH Office of Admissions:

3. GPA

Applicants are expected to have obtained a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university with an overall grade point average of 3.0 or better. If you do not meet this criteria you will need to submit a personal statement describing in detail the reason why your low GPA may not represent your academic potential for further consideration.

4. CV/Resume

Upload a current curriculum vitae (resume).

5. Work Experience

Work experience relevant to Higher Education. Please upload a list of your most relevant experience in higher education starting with the most recent, to include employer information, Position Title, and starting and ending dates.

6. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation

You will be asked to include the names and emails of two (2) recommenders who can provide a realistic appraisal of your qualifications for graduate-level coursework.

One letter of recommendation from an individual who can evaluate your academic potential for graduate level studies.

Second letter of recommendation from an individual who can evaluate your leadership potential, experience in higher education, and character. Your referrers will be contacted directly by the University to request letters of recommendation on your behalf. You will not be able to view these recommendations.

7. Statement of Purpose

Please upload a statement of purpose addressing why you are interested in applying for the HEAL program (no more than one page).
