Please Note: Official transcripts must be sent to the Admissions Office prior to the deadline.

 

Helpful tips to ensure your transcripts are received:

  • Submit your Cal State Apply application prior to sending official transcripts from your former institutions.
  • Use the same name on your Cal State Apply application as on your transcripts (if your name has changed, indicate this in your transcript order).

Application Procedures

Complete the Graduate Online Application at Cal State Apply. The University application requires a $70 non-refundable application fee. Visit the Graduate Studies Application Guide for more information. You will apply to the Master of Arts degree in Education – Curriculum & Instruction (C&I) Option

Official Transcripts

After you have completed the application in Cal State Apply, but before the application deadline, submit one official electronic set of transcripts for all undergraduate and any post-graduate work. Electronic official transcripts from domestic institutions are encouraged and preferred to be sent to admissions@csudh.edu. Transcripts are considered official only when sent directly from the issuing institution to the CSUDH Office of Admissions:

GPA

Applicants are expected to have a minimum of 2.75 grade point average (GPA) in the last 60 semester units of upper division and post baccalaureate work OR a combined score of 1000 or better on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). If you do NOT meet this requirement, submit a Low GPA Petition for Exception.

CV/Resume

Upload a current curriculum vitae (resume).

Two (2) Letters of Recommendation

You will be asked to include the names and emails of two (2) professionals who can provide a realistic appraisal of your qualifications for graduate-level coursework. Your referrers will be contacted directly by the University to request letters of recommendation on your behalf. You will not be able to view these recommendations.

Statement of Purpose

Address the following (2-4 pages, double spaced):

  1. Describe your purpose in applying for graduate study in C&I.
  2. Any relevant experience, personal background, and qualities/aspirations you would bring to the program.
  3. Your particular connection to justice and equity and why you have chosen to apply to CSUDH, include career and academic goals.
  4. Any additional information that may assist the Selection Committee in evaluating your preparation and aptitude for graduate study at CSUDH.

Upon completion, please allow 4-6 weeks for your application to be processed.
