As a 43-year veteran of teaching, my research has evolved as I have evolved during my years as a teacher-scholar. I received my doctorate in 1993 - the year many see as the birth of multicultural education - and so you'll see early scholarship in my portfolio that mirrors that historical moment. My teaching and research continued to evolve as the field of education evolved itself and soon I was committed to practicing antiracist education and my scholarship followed. Today, abolitionist education best represents my teaching and research as I center on abolishing oppressive educational systems and caring, loving, and protecting those in school communities.
