The annual Asian & Pacific Islander (API) Graduation Celebration serves as a platform to recognize recent graduates for their academic and personal achievements at California State University, Dominguez Hills. This event provides an opportunity for engagement within the CSUDH Asian & Pacific Islander and Southwest Asian North Africans (SWANA) communities. It facilitates connections with support systems, allows the sharing of common experiences, and fosters a sense of belonging and pride. The API Graduation Celebration is inclusive, welcoming all graduating students, regardless of their ethnicity. During the API Graduation Celebration, two awards are presented to members of the CSUDH community who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and service to the Asian & Pacific Islander (API) community throughout their time at the university. The Donald T. Hata “Poised to Prevail” Award is presented to a member of the CSUDH faculty, administration, staff, or alumni, and the Journey to Success student award honors an exceptional graduating CSUDH student.

The Veterans Resource Center (VRC) Graduation Reception is an annual graduation event that recognizes our recent graduates, and their academic & personal accomplishments here at California State University, Dominguez Hills. The Veterans Graduation Reception is a smaller event, not to replace Commencement, and allows an opportunity for students to engage in a more intimate commencement experience with others within the military community. This event gives students the ability to share common experiences and foster a sense of camaraderie here at CSUDH. The Veterans Graduation Reception is open to all students on campus while celebrating those who have filed to graduate for Fall 2023, Spring 2024, or Summer 2024.
