Dr. Ryan Bowles Eagle is an associate professor in the Communications Department and the Program Coordinator for the Film, Television and Media B.A degree. She specializes in media activism, feminist media studies, and documentary. Her work has been published in journals including Feminist Media Studies, European Journal of Cultural Studies, Social Semiotics, Red Feather Journal, and Media Fields Journal. She has presented at national and international conferences such as Society for Cinema and Media Studies, National Women's Studies Association, Popular Culture Association/American Culture Association, and Console-ing Passions, and is a former managing editor for Camera Obscura: Feminism, Culture, and Media Studies. Prior to pursuing her PhD, Dr. Bowles Eagle worked in independent documentary film production. Her regular course offerings include Media and Representation, Genre Analysis (Documentary), Global Media, Media Audiences, and Media Industries. In 2020 she was the recipient of the university's "Lyle E. Gibson Distinguished Teacher Award."
