Multiple Subject Bilingual (Spanish - English) Credential

The Multiple Subject Bilingual (Spanish - English) candidates will complete Preliminary Credential with the Bilingual Authorization in Spanish simultaneously by meeting the following requirements.

 

Please note that Multiple Subject Bilingual (Spanish - English) candidates must indicate that they are Bilingual Authorization candidates on the TED Phase II application.

 

Language & Culture Competencies

Multiple Subject Bilingual (Spanish - English) candidates have three options to complete the language & culture competencies in order to obtain the Bilingual Authorization in Spanish simultaneously with the preliminary credential.

 

  • SPA 280, SPA 341, & SPA 351 in the CSUDH Modern Language Department, or
  • Equivalent coursework in a 4 year university to the Language & Culture Competencies as set forth by the CTC, or
  • CSET Spanish III and CSET Spanish V

 

Foundations Coursework in Critical Dual Language & Bilingual Education

TED 507

 

Dual Language & Bilingual Elementary Content Methods Courses

TED 403, TED 433, TED 410, TED 416, TED 412, & TED 448. Bilingual candidates must ensure that they are enrolled in the bilingual sections of the above courses. Bilingual sections end with - 07, - 08, or - 47.

 

Fieldwork Experiences in Dual Language & Bilingual Inclusive Schools

The Multiple Subject Fieldwork Coordinator will place candidates in a Dual Language elementary school with an experienced and effective educator who embodies humanizing pedagogies. Multiple Subject Bilingual (Spanish - English) candidates must indicate that they are Bilingual Authorization candidates on the TED Phase II application in order to be placed in a dual language classroom.

 

Upon Completion of all Bilingual Authorization Requirements

Candidates complete and submit this form to the Bilingual Authorization Coordinator. Candidates will log in using their CSUDH username - like this username@csudh.edu.

BILA coordinator writes & issues an official letter to candidates indicating completion of all BilingualAuthorization requirements. Coordinator sends the letter via Toromail.

Candidates apply for preliminary credential with the Bilingual Authorization through COE Credential Unit.

 Candidates will upload the official BILA letter when applying for preliminary credential.
