CSUDH is committed to maintaining a safe learning and work environment. This is accomplished is by offering our students various safety trainings, whether working in a research lab or working as a student assistant in a instructional lab on campus. The campus Chemical Hygiene Officer (CHO) conducts the trainings upon the request of the P.I. or supervisor.
All research students and student assistants on this campus are required to abide by federal, state, local, and university policies.
These trainings were established to help prevent incidents, accidents, illnesses and injuries; increase safety awareness; meet requirements of environmental, occupational health, and safety laws and regulations; reduce liability; and establish safety responsibilities for those students in research or working as student assistants. CSUDH research students and student assistants working in labs on campus are expected to be thoroughly familiar with their safety responsibilities, strive to follow safety practices at all times, act proactively to prevent accidents and injuries, communicate hazards to their P.I. or supervisor, and be prepared for emergencies that may occur in the workplace.
P.I.s or Supervisors need to contact the Chemical Hygiene Officer through email for available dates/times for the training of their students.
