Custodial Services

Custodial Services is committed to maintaining, cleaning, and protecting the interior portions of the university's facilities. We focus on providing a safe, attractive, functional, and comfortable environment for our faculty, staff, students, and visitors that will contribute to a positive learning experience and student success.

Custodial Services provides professional cleaning to all state buildings. Custodial services are also provided to auxiliary/non-state buildings such as Extended Education, Student Housing, and the Infant Toddler Center. These services are provided on a chargeback basis.

The custodial staff provides cleaning services to over one million square feet of building space. Typical services include sanitizing, floor care, stocking paper products, and collecting and disposing of refuse. To see the cleaning schedules, as well as other services we provide, click on the links below.

Cleaning Schedules

The frequency with which the buildings are cleaned, combined with the types of cleaning required, are normally scheduled according to the availability of personnel and customer needs. In making assignments or responding to custodial service calls, Facilities Services' highest priorities are always based on considerations of safety and hygiene first, particularly in allocating resources to the scheduled maintenance of high-use restrooms, main entries, high-use hallways, classrooms, common areas, and offices. These schedules of routine and other maintenance are adjusted when special needs or emergencies arise. The department encourages all of its customers to report any problems they may encounter directly to the Work Control Center.

Our Custodians work in two shifts: a day shift and a night shift. This provides the best service we can deliver without interfering with the daily activities of the campus. Below is a list of our custodians' tasks and how often those tasks are completed.

Event Set-Up

If you are planning an event on campus and need items such as tables, chairs, podiums, trash cans, recycle bins, stanchions, and/or canopies, we can provide them for you. (Note: If your event requires audio/visual equipment, contact the Events & Ceremonies Office for more information.)

Please complete an online Work Request Form at least ten (10) days in advance of your event. List the items needed, along with the quantity of each. Be sure to provide the beginning and ending date of the event, and the beginning and ending time of each day. We will also provide custodial services, if needed.

There is a cost associated with each of these items and services. Refer to the Miscellaneous Items Rental Cost List [PDF] and the Chargeback Labor Costs Chart [PDF] for more information.
