Dr. Donna Dueker is a lecturer in the Department of Health Sciences (College of Health, Human Services & Nursing) teaching courses in biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, and environmental health. As a biostatician and epidemiologist, her research interests include environmental health with a focus on exposure assessment and the health effects of localized sources of air pollution. Some of her teaching objectives are to guide students in learning to draw connections between related topics, such as between environmental health and epidemiology, and to utilize culturally relevant and anti-racist pedagogies in her courses. Dr. Dueker has earned certifications in a variety of professional development opportunities during her time at CSUDH, including Quality Matters, Effective Online Teaching Practices from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), and Student Success Analytics. She has also participated in the Teaching First-Generation Students Institute offered by the Institute for Teaching and Learning at the Chancellor’s Office and a variety of Faculty Learning Communities at CSUDH, including Equity Mindfulness in Virtual Learning & Teaching, and Anti-racism:  Black Lives Matter, Social Justice, and Antiracist Writing Pedagogy. Dr. Dueker also has experience in developing equity-minded integrative student assessment in STEM courses as well as evaluating these methods in comparison to more individuated assessments. Dr. Dueker is deeply committed to equitable and inclusive teaching practices and hopes to foster collaboration between faculty in these areas.
