FIRST-YEAR

New Student Orientation (NSO) is open to conditionally admitted students who have submitted their Intent to Enroll and have paid the non-refundable $125 deposit. To attend NSO, students must register and pay the non-refundable $99 orientation fee by June 1, 2025. 

You are conditionally admitted until final transcripts are received and verified by the admissions office. The final transcript deadline for First-Time, First-Year students is July 15, 2024. Final official transcripts must include your graduation date. Our admissions office prefers electronic transcripts sent to admissions@csudh.edu. There may be instances where a student attends NSO and then the admissions status changes based on a review of final transcripts. 

Students who do not meet admission requirements or deadlines are not eligible to attend NSO. Students who are in the process of appealing an admissions decision are not eligible to attend NSO.

To register for NSO:

1. Ensure that you have submitted and paid your $125 Intent to Enroll non-refundable deposit.
2. Log into MyCSUDH. You may also type “my.csudh.edu” in your browser.
3. If you see a menu along the top header, select “Applicants”. If not, proceed to the next step.
4. Go to “Admission”.
5. Click “NSO Registration Status”.

You will be asked to select a date for your one-day NSO event  and shirt size. Your registration is considered complete once you pay the non-refundable $99 orientation fee*. After your payment has cleared (typically after 48 hours), you will receive your NSO registration confirmation to your Toromail, so keep an eye out for that email!

*Orientation fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of whether the student does not attend the NSO date, or their admission status changes.

NSO dates are scheduled for June 2025 so that students complete NSO in time to participate in the Dominguez Hills First-Year Experience (DHFYE) summer program during July-August 2024. The deadline to register for NSO is June 1, 2025.

The First-Year Orientation (FYO) program includes:

• Pre-orientation and Pre-Advisement: We have created a Pre-Orientation and Pre-Advisement platforms with information and items that you are required to complete before arriving at NSO. These platforms are designed to help you prepare for your NSO date. More information on how to access these platforms will be available to you as your NSO date gets closer!
• NSO Day: In-person orientation program with interactive activities, opportunities to meet others, and register for classes. Prepare to be on campus, in-person, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm.

NSO is a mandatory requirement for Fall 2025 enrollment. Students are required to register and attend the entire NSO date. First-Time, First-Year students must also:

• Complete the Directed Self-Placement (DSP) survey prior to their NSO date.
• Review online Pre-Orientation
• Pre-Advisement

Please be sure to continuously check your ToroMail account to receive important information and essential reminders about NSO, your application status, and the university.

We understand that life happens unexpectedly. If you miss your scheduled NSO date due to an emergency, please complete the petition process indicated below, which requires official documentation stating that the student (not family members) is legally or medically unable to complete the orientation requirement. Petitions will be considered but approval is not guaranteed. To begin the petition process:

1. Log into MyCSUDH.
2. If you see a menu along the top header, select “Applicants”. If not, proceed to the next step.
3. Go to “Admission”.
4. Click “NSO Petition” to start the form.

Please only submit a petition if you missed your scheduled NSO date. For any other questions about attending NSO, please call (310) 243-2626. 

As a reminder, students who miss the registration deadline or students who did not attend a scheduled NSO date, are not eligible for Fall 2025 enrollment.
