Clinical Science

Welcome to the Department of Clinical Science at CSU Dominguez Hills!

The Clinical Science Program at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) was established with a visionary goal of bridging the gap between academic excellence and practical, hands-on experience in the field of clinical laboratory science. Recognizing the increasing demand for skilled professionals in the healthcare industry, the program was initiated to provide comprehensive education and training that align with the evolving needs of the clinical laboratory environment. Since its inception, the program has grown significantly, both in terms of student enrollment and the scope of its educational offerings. Our curriculum emphasizes both theoretical understanding and practical application, ensuring that students are well-prepared to meet the demands of the clinical laboratory environment. Graduates of the program are highly regarded in the healthcare community for their expertise, professionalism, and readiness to contribute to patient care and medical research. Our alumni find employment in diverse settings, including clinical laboratories in hospitals, doctor's offices, reference labs, and the biotechnology industry.

Join us at CSUDH to embark on a rewarding career in the clinical sciences.

Program Mission

The mission of the Clinical Science programs is to provide high-quality education and professional preparation in cytotechnology and medical technology for a diverse student population, equipping them for traditional and emerging roles as clinical science professionals.

Program Goals

In addition to preparing entry-level clinical practitioners, our goals are to:

  • Develop Clinical Scientists: Capable of researching, developing, evaluating, and implementing clinical skills and procedures with a high degree of independent judgment and applied cognitive knowledge.
  • Foster Collaboration: Enable graduates to consult effectively with other members of the healthcare team.

  • Promote Professionalism: Instill a sense of professionalism, dedication, and commitment to healthcare and their profession that will endure throughout their careers.

Program Outcomes/Accreditation

The Medical Technology program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).

The Cytotechnology clinical program is accredited through The Greater Los Angeles Consortium by the Program Review Committee of the American Society of Cytopathology, sponsored by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP).
