Research Interests:
Dr. Obinna Oleribe is a health systems researcher specializing in health leadership, management, improvement, and innovations. His work is primarily quantitative, data-driven, cross-sectional, multidisciplinary, and experiential, focusing on leadership and management practices within the health ecosystem. Over the years, Dr. Oleribe has addressed various aspects of health leadership, including infectious disease management, human resource challenges, health policies, and organizational management. He collaborates globally to enrich the diversity of perspectives in his research and has studied the impact of leadership and management on health systems in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Nigeria, and beyond.
Dr. Oleribe's long-term research interests include exploring the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in public health practice and its impact on health outcomes and system efficiency.
Educational Background:
Dr. Oleribe holds a DrPH in Public Health from Walden University, an MBA from the University of Nicosia, Cyprus, and Imo State University, Nigeria, an MPH from the University of Benin, Nigeria, and an MBBS from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is a Fellow of both the Royal College of Physicians, London, and the West African College of Physicians, Nigeria. Additionally, he is a certified project manager (PMP) and holds a Six Sigma Black Belt II in quality management. He has also participated in several courses at Harvard Medical School, Havard Business School, John Hopkins University, University of Chicago, and Vanderbilt.
Additional Interests and Contributions:
Dr. Oleribe has served at various levels of governance, including federal, state, tribal, and county roles, before joining CSU Dominguez Hills as an Assistant Professor. He has founded and led non-profit organizations focusing on family health and community health advancement. He has also worked as a consultant for renowned organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), USAID, BroadReach Consulting Group, etc.
Dr. Oleribe is deeply committed to community health, volunteering with NGOs to support underserved populations in the U.S. and abroad. His leadership roles have included serving as Chair of the Health Management Caucus for the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria (APHPN) and board positions in various non-profits, such as the Center for Family Health Initiative (CFHI).
A dedicated mentor, Dr. Oleribe fosters student success by guiding the next generation of leaders in public health and management. He regularly organizes and speaks at workshops and conferences on leadership, public health, education, and research. He redefined health, leadership, and conceived a new leadership framework, the Deliberate Proactive Leadership Style.
Personal Interests:
Dr. Oleribe is a devoted Christian, motivational speaker, and fundraiser, helping raise funds for non-profit organizations and underprivileged communities. In his leisure time, he enjoys reading, writing, hiking, traveling, and watching movies. Guided by his core values, he believes in "walking the talk" and striving to go "above and beyond" in all endeavors.
