The following employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Fee Waiver Program:
Under several bargaining units, the Employee Fee Waiver Program may be transferred to dependents. The Employee Fee Waiver Transfer Request Form is available on the Fee Waiver Forms page and on the Human Resources Forms web page. Check with Human Resources Programs for current guidelines.
The dependent fee waiver may be transferred to only one person at a time. If both parents are employees eligible to transfer their fee waiver benefit to a dependent child, each employee may transfer the benefits and child would be eligible to enroll in up to four (4) courses or 12 units, whichever is greater. Alternatively, each employee could transfer his/her benefit to a different child, if there where multiple eligible dependents.

Fee waiver applies to CSU state-supported (general fund) courses only, including state-supported courses that are offered through summer term. Courses shall be taken for credit.
Not eligible: Classes through the Extension Services, Open University, non-state side Summer Sessions, Winter Session and University College are not eligible under the Fee Waiver Program. In addition, fees for joint doctoral program that are paid directly to the "partner" university cannot be waived.
All eligible non-represented and represented employees may enroll in a maximum of two (2) courses, or six (6) units, whichever is greater, per term, excluding the doctoral program. Units for the doctoral program are determined independently based on program course offerings.
Although fee waivers are approved in advance, you must be a current/active employee at the start of the semester in order for the fee waiver to be valid. Employees who become ineligible, or their dependents, who continue their enrollment will be responsible for covering the cost of related university fees. If you are separating employment, please contact the fee waiver coordinator regarding the cancellation of your employee or dependent fee waiver.
Employee will develop a Career Development Plan with their supervisor prior to the first semester applied for admission, and whenever the academic goals change. A development plan will also be used when taking work related courses. The original is kept by the supervisor and a copy of this plan should be kept in their individual fee waiver record maintained by the Fee Waiver Program Coordinator.
