2025 Summer Institute: Equity in Action

The application is open for our 2025 Summer Institute.
Equity in Action: Transforming Math Classrooms with the ICUCARE Framework
How do we create a classroom that centers equity and ensures all students feel seen, heard, and valued? How can we empower students to draw on their lived experiences, cultural identities, and voices to engage deeply with mathematical thinking?

In this workshop, we will explore the principles from Choosing to See: A Framework for Equity in the Math Classroom by Kyndall Brown and Pamela Seda. This powerful framework provides actionable strategies to build an inclusive, culturally responsive learning environment that supports every student’s success.

Participants will engage in math sessions that demonstrate key principles from the book in action. There will also be time for collaboration as you work with fellow educators to design lesson plans tailored to your own classrooms, incorporating these transformative ideas.
