Course Description

This course covers the OSH Act, Executive Order 12196, and the OSHA General Industry Standards, with special emphasis on areas in general industry which are most hazardous. This course is intended for federal agency collateral duty safety and health personnel.

Upon course completion students will have the ability to define general industry terms, identify hazards that occur in general industry, determine appropriate standards and regulations for federal agencies, locate OSHA General Industry Standards, policies, and procedures, and describe the use of the OSHA General Industry Standards and regulations to effectively assist agency safety and health officers with inspection and abatement efforts.

Who Should Attend

Federal agency collateral duty safety and health personnel, as well as contractors conducting work at federal facilities.

Locate and apply OSHA Safety and Health standards, policies, and procedures
Utilize OSHA standards and regulations to supplement a safety and health program
Identify common violations of OSHA standards and propose abatement actions
Describe appropriate abatement procedures for selected safety and health hazards.

THE PREREQUISITE VERIFICATION FORM MUST BE SUBMITTED AT LEAST 10 WORKING DAYS PRIOR TO THE START OF THE CLASS—NO EXCEPTIONS.
The prerequisite form must clearly indicate that the applicant has 5 years of experience overseeing workplace safety in the applicable industry.
When submitting the prerequisite verification form, your email should include the following statement:
“I have read the testing and equipment requirements listed on your website and I’m able to meet these requirements.”
If your form is denied, we will contact you via phone or email to explain why the form was denied.
If your form is approved, you will receive a permission number via email to register.
