OSX 995 • Workplace Violence/Active Shooter Prevention

Course Description

Upon course completion students will poses the knowledge and confidence to develop a workplace violence prevention program. Students will also have the knowledge and ability to teach Stop the Bleed techniques to their employees or coworkers. This course covers an overview of Workplace Violence, Federal and Cal/OSHA workplace violence standards, Stop the Bleed campaign and best practices to prepare organizations for life threatening events. Course topics include workplace violence regulations, current and historical analysis of Active Shooter and Workplace Violence, Stop the Bleed principles and techniques, and an overview of the evolution of workplace violence.

Who Should Attend

Individuals responsible for overseeing safety in industries or sites such as: construction, healthcare, government, cities and municipalities, school districts and many other worksites.

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify potential workplace violence and behavioral indicators
2. Identify psychological factors that may lead to potential incidents
3. Discuss historical and current events of workplace violence and active shooter incidents
4. Discuss public safety standards, response and expectations when responding to such incidents
5. Summarize OSHA and Cal/OSHA workplace violence standards
6. Discuss Upcoming Cal OSHA 3343 Standards
7. Demonstrate Stop the Bleed techniques through practical application
8. Identify workplace violence hazards and corrective actions
9. Develop workplace violence safety plans
