To become a Presidential Scholar at CSUDH, students must meet the following requirements.
*As the Presidential Scholarship is the most prestigious and fully funded award, students selected to be Presidential Scholars are not allowed to receive the Katherine B. Loker Scholarship or the University Honors Scholarship.
The scholarship application is available on the Premier Scholarship web page. The deadline to apply for this scholarship is in spring each year (the exact deadline can be found on the Premier Scholarship web page). Along with an application, students must write a personal statement essay on college and career goals; submit a resume highlighting awards/honors, school activities, community service, work experience and notable achievements; and submit one letter of recommendation. Transfer applicants must also submit unofficial transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
Once all of the applications have been submitted, the highest-ranked candidates are invited to campus to be interviewed by the Presidential Scholars Selection Committee. After this process the final Presidential Scholars are selected and notified.
CSUDH Presidential Scholarships are renewable on an annual basis (up to three additional years for incoming new freshmen and one additional year for transfer students). Presidential Scholars must meet the following requirements to renew their scholarships:
