There are numerous opportunities for students to get involved in research on campus. Undergraduate and graduate CSUDH students who are interested in becoming a research assistant should contact faculty with labs. Students may earn up to 3 units of credit per semester for directed research through individual labs (PSY 498 for undergraduate, PSY 598 for graduate). Students are encouraged to present their work at the CSUDH’s annual Student Research Conference. See also, the Psychology Research Guide at the CSUDH Library for information on relevant databases, formatting in APA style, and psychological measures, among other useful tools.
Students who conduct research in faculty labs have the opportunity to attend professional conferences such as American Psychological Association, International Neuropsychological Society, Society of Behavioral Medicine, Western Psychology Association. Travel Awards are typically offered through professional societies and can be found on their conference website. It is recommended that students apply for travel awards to help offset the costs associated with presenting at a conference.
