Which automobile insurance policy is primary in a vehicle accident that occurs while driving on University business?

Driving a Personal Vehicle

• Your personal insurance policy is the primary policy.
• The state insurance policy is secondary.
• You can file a claim to request reimbursement from the CSU for out of pocket expenses related to the accident.

Driving a State Owned Vehicle

• The institutional insurance policy is primary.

Driving a Rental Car

• If rented under a state contract, the rental car agency insurance is primary.
• If you did NOT rent under a state contract, you are responsible for liability insurance (either personal or non-reimbursable purchased insurance).
