Jon Farrell , MSW, ASW

Jon Farrell (he/him), MSW, is an anti-racist educator and equity-focused practitioner who presents on the influence of identity, power, and privilege in the social work profession. Jon received his master’s in social work (MSW) in 2020 from CSU Dominguez Hills, located in Carson, California, and has a background in clinical social work both as a therapist and life skills instructor (registered ASW). Prior to and after graduating from CSUDH, Jon worked with a diverse range of communities in both the Los Angeles area and San Francisco, including folks who have been impacted by the US juvenile legal system, the public education system, and public welfare and child welfare systems. Jon is a proud CSUDH adjunct faculty member who teaches Critical Race Studies, and currently holds the position of Interim Admissions Coordinator for the CSUDH Department of Social Work.

Jon’s belief in accessible education-for-all stems from his work taking big ideas and sharing them in neat packages. Jon has over 10 years of experience in design and film, and credits his 6-year, pre-2008 stint in risk management for opening his eyes towards the banking industry’s disinterest in building financial literacy for its consumers. In addition to his MSW, Jon earned a BFA from ArtCenter College of Design (2011) and BA in Economics/Administrative Studies from UC Riverside (2002).
