Description | The Loether Memorial Social Research Scholarship was established in his honor to support Sociology students engaged in scholarly research activities. Herman J. Loether died of cancer on March 25, 2011. Dr. Loether, emeritus and founding faculty member of the sociology department at CSUDH, was greatly respected by his colleagues and his many students. Dr. Herman Loether established the Social Systems Research Center (SSRC) in addition to teaching at CSUDH for 30 years (after teaching for 10 years at CSULA). Dr. Loether founded the Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD) Chapter at CSUDH, and served as the advisor for many years. Dr. Herman J. Loether was actively involved in the development of the SSRC (now called the Urban Community Research Center), and took great pride in teaching CSUDH students about doing hands on sociological research with community partners. |

Requirements | Applicant must be a Sociology major, undergrad junior or senior, or graduate student, in good standing with the university. Applicant must be enrolled for the upcoming spring semester, and must be actively engaged in sociological research (e.g. involvement in the UCRC, Sociology 302 or 502, or other research activities with Sociology faculty at CSUDH). Applicant must have commitment to continuing education and attaining a graduate professional degree. |

CSUDH Graduate Equity Fellowship
Description | The Graduate Equity Fellowship Program at CSU Dominguez Hills provides financial support to CSU Dominguez Hills graduate students interested in a future doctoral degree who exhibit strong academic performance. The program aims to increase the pool of CSU Dominguez Hills graduates who pursue and complete doctoral programs and may later consider teaching careers. |
