Mission, Vision, Values

The mission of the School of Public Service and Justice (SPSJ) at CSUDH is to address the pressing social, legal, and policy issues our society faces through cutting-edge empirical research, undergraduate and graduate education, and community service and leadership. The Department of Public Administration seeks to prepare students for careers/graduate education in public service, social justice, civic engagement, nonprofit management and ethical leadership, and the Applied Studies program seeks to prepare students for "practical applications of academic subjects in the real world." These academic programs that facilitate student critical learning of research, theory, and practice around social, legal, and policy issues that directly affect their local and global communities.

The SPSJ vision is to:

  • Achieve SPSJ student success with increased graduation and retention rates, and future career and educational opportunities.
  • Create a sense of belonging and forge a collective identity and for SPSJ faculty, students, and administrators that enables us to grow into regional prominence.
  • Grow the student body and faculty through improved SPSJ community awareness.
    Launch new educational and extra-curricular programs to meet student interest and community needs.
  • Develop new events and fundraising opportunities that lead to increased opportunities for student scholarships, research support, and travel.

Accreditation

The MPA Program at CSUDH is proud to carry an additional accreditation by the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA).
