A first-time freshman is defined as a new student who has earned college credit not later than the end of the summer immediately following high school graduation or who has not earned any college credit. High school students earning more than 30 units prior to matriculation are considered first-time freshmen by IPEDS.
Undergraduates are considered to be full-time students when they are enrolled in 12 units or more during any semester, however, graduation in four years time requires completion of approximately 16 units each semester. Graduate and Post-Baccalaureate students are considered to be full-time students when they are enrolled in at least nine units of graduate program courses each semester.
