Intro to CM1

What is CM1?

CM1 is a Web Content Management System (WCMS), software that provides website authoring, collaboration, and administration tools designed to allow users with little technical knowledge to create and manage website content with relative ease.

CSUDH staff and faculty can use CM1 to easily update their web pages and manage a host of site features.

Why use a WCMS?

A WCMS provides solutions to some of the many issues that have plagued campus websites. Some of the benefits of a WCMS are:

Computer Icon
Rapid browser-based content updates. No additional software needed!
Web Doc Icon
Requires less web technical knowledge. Focus on content, not code!
Heart Content Icon
Creates a more consistent and friendly experience for site visitors.
Icon 50x50 Check Mark 001
Manages content creation workflow and access privileges.
Distribution Icon
Content and assets can be easily shared across all sites.
Outdated 404 Icon
Helps reduce outdated content and broken links.
Eye Icon
Reinforces campus branding and messaging.
Icon 50x50 Graph 004
Provides site usage statistics and reporting.
Doc Folded Icon
Enables content versioning and audit trails.

How a WCMS Works

CM1 End-Users are CSUDH staff and faculty that manage campus websites. They use the CM1 server (cm1.csudh.edu) in various roles (content contributors, editors, etc.) to create, edit, and preview web pages and files. Once approved, CM1 publishes the pages and files to the live server (www4.csudh.edu) where it can be viewed publicly by site visitors.
