Dr. Mapson is a full-time lecturer teaching both generalist practice and specialized practice year courses. Prior to joining the faculty, she was an assistant professor with Howard University teaching in the traditional classroom and online. She has twenty years post-masters level clinical practice experience in different venues which includes forensics settings such as a juvenile and adult detention centers (males and females), outpatient forensic mental health residential facilities (adults), and inpatient residential facilities where she provided individual and group therapy, crisis intervention and supportive counseling. Dr. Mapson has published articles and book chapters in the Journal of Evidence-Based Social Work, Families in Society, and the Journal of Human Behavior in the Social Environment with her scholarship specifically focused in the area of criminal justice.
