Lynn Harris currently serves as the CalSWEC Project Coordinator and teaches policy foundation and child welfare and administration/leadership concentration courses. In 2008, Dr. Harris began in the Social Work department as an adjunct professor and in 2009 began as the IUC Field Consultant and then she served as CalSWEC Field Consultant. With over 40 years of social work experience, and prior to coming to CSUDH, she began her career as a psychiatric social worker at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric Institute. She transitioned into macro practice in various administrative and leadership capacities in local non-profit agencies before launching Synergy Works Consultant Services in 1995. As the Founder and Principal Consultant, Dr. Harris has assisted foster family, family preservation, and other human service agencies with program start-up, resource development, strategic planning, grant-writing, organizational development and staff development training.
MSW field education has consistently been a major emphasis of Dr. Harris social work career. She has served as an internal field instructor while working inside numerous organizations, and as an external field instructor with Synergy Work Consultant Services with contracts in human service and community based organizations, school districts and county contracted non-profit agencies. In 2005, Synergy Works received the USC Agency of the Year Award for outstanding work in field education.
