Sandy Hamilton - An individual of integrity who adheres to the highest of ethical standards in all that she does. A dedicated and client focused Supervising Children’s Social Worker professional with 33 years of experience with the Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, the largest Child Welfare Agency in the country. I have worked at eight different DCFS offices, selected two times as an SCSW to assist in creating and piloting specialized programs like Paramount Conferencing Center and Community Based Placement. Completed Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California (USC), and desirous of licensure. I am Trauma informed and is sensitive to working with oppressed and marginalized populations. Built trust-based relationships with clients and families through exceptional and passionate social work. Provides case management intervention and supervision to children and families dealing with a wide range of life obstacles and barriers to function, removal of children from parents and none-related family members due to child abuse, drug abuse, and psychological difficulties. Taught, trained, counseled, mentored and coached hundreds of BSW’s and MSW student interns, over 20 years as a Field Instructor from various Universities like CSULB, CSUDH, USC, and CSULA, and 3-years at CSUDH as a Part-time Field Seminar, Adjunct Faculty member. I embrace CRT and the mission statement of CSUDH Social Work Department. Collaborated with local Universities and placements agencies to provide education to Social Work students, Recruit other Children’s Social Worker (CSW’s) at DCFS so MSW students could shadow to learn different styles of working with families and supportive counseling. A DCFS Supervising Children’s Social Worker committee member for the referral review panel on Eliminating Racial Disparity & Disproportionality among African American youth in Child Welfare (ERDD) initiative referrals and probable home of parent detention & removal panel. A person with great qualities, decades of experience in the field, has coordinated field educational experiences as a Field Instructor, and engages well with others and community partners.
